Today, TJ Cox for Congress released a new ad, “For Too Many,” which highlights Cox’s experience building health clinics in the Central Valley and dedication to lowering costs and expanding health care coverage.
Since joining Congress, Cox has fought to protect these new facilities and ensure people living with pre-existing conditions can access care. Both these medical facilities and protections for people with pre-existing conditions were made possible by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which David Valadao voted to kill in 2017.
TJ’s wife, Kathleen Murphy, MD, is a pediatric intensive care physician who treats children in Central Valley hospitals.
TJ’s Central Valley New Market Tax Credit Fund built and financed rural health infrastructure across the Valley, bringing quality health care to communities where Wall Street and the big banks won’t go.
“For Too Many” will air on broadcast in the Fresno and Bakersfield markets and stream online throughout California’s 21st Congressional District.
From the ad:
- Cox’s previous business, Central Valley New Market Tax Credit, financed the construction of community health centers in CA-21, including Mendota, Parlier, Selma, Sanger, and Fowler.
- TJ Cox voted for H.R. 3, the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act.
- TJ Cox introduced the Better Respiration through Expanded Access to Tele-Health (BREATHE) Act to “enable qualified respiratory therapists to use tele-health to treat Medicare members living with COPD in their homes.”
- Cox introduced the bipartisan Inhaler Coverage and Access Now Act (I CAN Act) to require high deductible insurance plans to cover asthma inhalers.
- Cox introduced the Telehealth Expansion Act of 2019.
- Cox co-led a resolution to mark May ‘National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month.’

COX: “For too many kids, it can be life or death.
I’m TJ Cox, and I’m fed up.
With insurance companies trying to deny coverage, for this [inhaler]. And for people with pre-existing conditions.
It’s why I’m so proud of my wife Kathy, who has dedicated her life to caring for kids.
It’s why I built health clinics across the Central Valley. And why, in Congress, I fought to secure funding for asthma treatment, and to make healthcare more affordable.
I’m TJ Cox, and I approve this message.
For Us.”
TJ Cox is running for reelection to Congress in California’s 21st District. He is a family man, engineer and small businessman with a passion for community development. TJ is married to Kathleen Murphy, MD, a pediatric intensive care physician. They are the proud parents of four children.
